Codes and Conventions of Radio Trailers

Today my group and I came up with a list of codes and conventions of radio trailers after listening to various examples of existing radio trailers:
  • Background music (sound bed)- relevant to topic
  • Use of accents and languages
  • Scheduling at the end of the advert (voiceover)- time, day, channel
  • Clips from documentary may be used
  • Sound effects
  • Clear and well spoken voiceover
  • Informal language
  • Target audience addressed
  • Voiceover asks questions- involves listeners
  • Voiceover can be intercut throughout
  • Around 30-40 seconds
  • May use a slogan
